New moon December 20th 2025
During this last new moon of 2025, the Sun and Moon are together in Sagittarius. The urge to look farther, beyond horizons or boundaries, to travel, experience, and seek out the new may rise within you. Mercury and Venus are also in Sagittarius, which amplifies this. It is a time of optimism, and your (sense of) freedom may be more important than you realized. Seeking the meaning of life, especially at the point where you run into non-sense, may preoccupy you, as well as the need for inner and/or outer renewal.
The Moon moves this day from Sagittarius into Capricorn, helping you feel the foundation on which you can anchor and grow your dreams and desires.
Because the Moon and the Sun are in a disharmonious position to Uranus, you may experience a sudden impulse, wanting something completely different all at once, or feeling done with something old. An inspiration may bring an emotion to the surface; understand it but wait a moment before acting on it – your feelings may change again tomorrow or the day after. There may also be a sudden message, or you gain an insight like a bolt of lightning. Explore your inner world first, understand what something does to you or how something impacts you and why. Don’t act too hastily these days.
The Moon is square Neptune on this day, and the Sun the day after. For example, you may have dreams but take no action on them. You long for unity, but escape from (harsh) reality, or you sense too much and lose yourself. Make time to be alone, shake off all outside energies, and connect with your heart. Feel whether your ideals are truly your own and whether your expectations are realistic. Take responsibility for your own happiness.
On December 21 at 16:03 the Sun moves into Capricorn, ushering in winter on the northern hemisphere. It is the shortest day of the year. This is the turning point: after this day the Sun will slowly ‘return’ and the door to a new beginning opens. When we arrive at this point, in the center of the spiral (and while on the outside of the spiral when it’s Midsummer on the southern hemisphere), the Sun and Moon are opposite the North Star in the constellation Ursa Minor. This star never rises or sets. Because of this, it is associated with the still point, the source of universal energy and all life. The star symbolizes many forms of guidance: you may guide others in your own unique way, or you may gain clarity about your path in the days around the solstice.
Because the Sun and Moon are opposite this star, the outside world may reflect how you do or do not want to enter the coming cycle. The clearer your vision of what you want to pursue, the more determination you will feel, and the less you will be distracted by other opinions or thoughts. Listen (within and without), look around you, see the signs, and feel what your flow is.
